Hartsville is a town in Haw Creek and Clifty townships, Bartholomew County, Indiana, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus, Indiana metropolitan statistical area. Hartsville was founded in 1832. It was named for Gideon B. Hart, a pioneer settler. The first post office at Hartsville was established in 1838.
